Kassel has beautiful gardens both within the city, the Karlsaue, and in Wilhelmshoehe. The Bergpark with its cascading water courses was described as the most grandiose achievement of Baroque style combining architecture and landscape. Neoclassical Wilhelmshoehe Castle is 287 metres wide, and houses the Gallery of Old Masters with no less than 17 Rembrandts and 11 van Dycks, plus Titian, Tintoretto and more Italian and Spanish masters.
